The Entertainment Law Committee of ASIPI (Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property), chaired by Diana Muller, with the assistance of its secretary Aldo Fabrizio Modica, requested all members from North, Central and South America to respond to a comprehensive questionnaire on the Legal Protection of Videogames in the Americas. As a result of this effort, a publication was created by Ms. Muller and Mr. Modica which was published by ASIPI. Its objective was to determine the legal nature of all the elements of videogames that can be protected as multimedia and audiovisual works, including analysis of pertinent Intellectual Property rights (trademarks, copyrights and patents), rights of the authors and creators, moral rights, compensation, assignment of rights, licensing, licenses for the organization of tournaments and competitions; image rights, rights of publicity; protection of personal data, software and many other related issues.
