Maria Savio counsels clients in all aspects of intellectual property law. She specializes in litigation of patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright, unfair competition, and business tort matters before federal courts throughout the United States. She has extensive experience in counterfeiting litigation. Ms. Savio also handles opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and domain name disputes. She counsels clients in connection with infringement avoidance, clearance, right to use studies, and patentability.

Ms. Savio also has substantial transactional experience working on intellectual property issues in the context of mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and initial public offerings, and audits. She has been involved in negotiating important licenses and in drafting all types of agreements involving intellectual property interests, including publishing contracts. She has developed and implemented strategies for the protection and acquisition of trademarks and domain names in the U.S. and abroad.

She represents a formidable list of domestic and multinational clients in a variety of industries, particularly computer technology and software, E-commerce, and telecommunications—including wireless and other developing technologies, publishing and media, entertainment and sports, and luxury consumer and designer goods.

Ms. Savio has published articles on subjects including asset securitization, intellectual property audits, computer torts, gray goods/parallel imports, and domain name issues. She has lectured at various trade shows and conferences, as well as at the Parsons School of Design in New York.

Ms. Savio is a registered patent attorney; her technical expertise is in biochemistry.
